Dexta Daps, geboren als Louis Anthony Jr. wuchs in den heruntergekommenen Strassen von Seaview Garden auf, welche bereits das Revier für Reggea Legenden wie Shabba Ranks und Garnet Silk waren. In der Armut aufgewachsen, lernte er schnell wie er am besten seine Frustration herauslassen konnte, mit Musik und singen.
"Ich hörte die melodischen Stimmen der nach Hilfe weinenden Kinder, ebenso wie die Trauer der Leute. Deren Stimmen und der Hunger nach Vergeltung waren eine fabelhafte Inspiration und brachten mich dazu lieber über Glück und Freunde zu singen."
